Oasis Counseling and Enrichment opened in October of 2010 in downtown Parkville, Missouri and provided in-person services at that location for 10 years. During the pandemic, we switched to telehealth only from March of 2020 to July of 2025. I'm excited to be open to in-person appointments again at my new space in Prairie Village, Kansas starting in August of 2025! The address is 4121 W 83rd Street, Suite 155, Prairie Village, Kansas. I love this space nestled in a treed-lined neighborhood with several other fun businesses within walking distance such as First Watch, Meddy's, Club Pilates, and Nekter.
Prefer to have your session from home or work? No problem! Telehealth will continue to be available for clients statewide in Missouri and Kansas. The advantages of telehealth are many including convenience, comfort, time savings, share screen feature, and focus. It is especially helpful if there is inclement weather or in the case of a minor illness.
My practice is very small and accessible. When you call, you are calling me directly. I will answer the phone "This is Darlene." There is no office staff. When you are a client you can securely message me through your client portal, text, or schedule directly online.
Darlene Weldon is licensed in Missouri and Kansas. She graduated from Texas Tech University magna cum laude in 1992 with a BA in Philosophy and Psychology. She earned her MS in Counseling Psychology from Avila University in 2008.
Before becoming a counselor, Darlene held many positions in the teaching and helping fields. She worked as a substitute teacher for the Park Hill School District, specializing in Gifted and Special Ed. She was also a Psychology Instructor at Heritage College.
Other prior experience includes being a Certified Childbirth Educator for North Kansas City Hospital, birth doula, Childcare Director for Unity Church of Overland Park, and Social Service Worker for the Children's Division (formerly known as the Division of Family Services).
All of these positions in the teaching and helping fields provided a great foundation for becoming a counselor in private practice. She is passionate about helping people find joy and live their best lives. The people she has helped before becoming a counselor have included students, women in labor, children, and parents. Her current focus is on helping people suffering with OCD, anxiety and those who are neurodivergent.
Personal: Darlene loves gardening/nature, spending time with family, traveling, and all things Harry Potter. She is married to the love of her life and parent to three grown children. She is a Hufflepuff and an Enneagram 8. Favorite novel: A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole. Recently read: The Midnight Library by Matt Haig.
